Hiking the Auriol Trail in Yukon’s Kluane National Park is a must if you’re in the area. There aren’t many accessible hikes in the park that offer what this one does – superb sub-alpine and alpine scenery within 8 kilometres of the start of the trail.

Pink Lake in Gatineau Park, located less than a half hour drive from downtown Ottawa, is not what you think it might be. First off, the only thing pink about it are the colourful visitors ambling around the lake on the Pink Lake Trail. The Pink part relates to the name of the family that settled nearby and “loaned” their name to the lake.

1,900 square kilometres in the western part of the province
If you can find the Great Sand Hills in Saskatchewan you’re in for a treat! Despite the fact they cover 1,900 square kilometres in the western part of the province, rather a large chunk of real estate if you ask me, they are difficult to find. Signage is next to non-existent until you’re within spitting distance of the dunes. But don’t let that deter you.
